WHY PRETEND?
Bush Administration considers hiring
FOX News host as "Presidential Spokesman"
After years of FOX News pretending to be "Fair and Balanced" and years of the Bush Administration pretending to be
truthful, it appears that this Double Fantasy may finally be abandoned.  In a move that removes any line between FOX News
and the Republican party, Tony Snow, a FOX News hack, may be placed in the position of Presidential Press Secretary.

Scott McClellan got his job in the typical way of Red America - by being part of a Republican
family.  But, for those not
fortunate enough to be
genetically connected to the GOP, there is really only one way to get inside their circle of trust.
Unwavering loyalty. So spreading propaganda as fact to millions of Americans certainly qualifies Tony Snow to be part of the
Bush Administration. Snow has been a partisan Republican his whole career.  When FOX news started he was one of the
first people hired.  Right wing propaganda is now and has always been his bread and butter.  So the job is the perfect
reward for him!

Why else would the Bush administration give up on even pretending to represent all Americans? Well, the President's
popularity is now at
record lows, so the White House may feel it's time to go back to their base and pull out an old familiar
face. Snow, who now does his thing on talk radio, has a great deal of experience presenting GOP talking points as if they
were real facts.  Since a "Talk Radio " strategy helped to build the GOP, they may feel that it is now the only way to save this
sinking presidency.

The Bush team must realize by now that most of the country now sees right through them. They may be calculating that it is
important only to pander to the 30% who are still drinking the Kool Aid.  So why not bring in a right wing talk show host to
deliver the message of a President who never wanted to represent everyone anyway.  Maybe they decided it's time to quit
pretending to be working for anyone but their loyalists.  They only have 3 years left anyway to
manufacture a legacy and line
the pockets of their loyalists.  Tony Snow would be the perfect choice to accomplish such a task.
BUSH: 'CREEPIER' THAN CLINTON?   YOU DECIDE.

Amazing isn't it, that with all the great security we're supposed to be getting, we can't keep a crazy heckler away from the
President of China.  In fact, the White House Press Office gave her the press pass to get in!  What a disaster. Chinese
television went to black, Bush whispered "Your OK"  in President Hu's ear and the police dragged the lady away (after
several minutes of yelling).  Typically, Bush looked stupefied and our country looked 2nd rate. I'm not saying we have to
cuddle up to China at all.  Some of the worst human right abuses have occurred there.  But we need to be able to at least
LOOK like we can run a tight ship when billions of people worldwide are looking in.  Friend or Foe, we don't have the luxury
of being sloppy. But we were.
Many times.

One of the most undiplomatic and embarrassing moments this week came when it was time to play the Chinese National
Anthem.  Sounds pretty simple right? The Chinese have been here before so we have the CD and I'm sure the name is
written right on it.  All you have to do is announce which National Anthem you're playing....

" China's national anthem was announced as the anthem of "the Republic of China" - the formal name of Taiwan.
China's full name is the People's Republic of China and it claims Taiwan should come under its rule.

If that wasn't enough there was also a jacket pulling incident and the entire visit was clouded in a debate on whether it was
really a full State Visit. What a mess. It seemed the President was intentionally trying to insult the Chinese and make the
country look weak and incompetent.  Do we really have to
go through nearly 3 more years of this?
Bush's defense of Rumsfeld was
entirely substance-free. Bush simply
told reporters in the Rose Garden that
Rumsfeld would stay because "I'm the
decider and I decide what's best." He
sounded much like a parent telling
children how things would be: "I'm the
Daddy, that's why."

This, indeed, is how Bush sees the
presidency, and it is a point of view that
will cause him trouble.

PROTESTER GIVEN PASS BY WHITE HOUSE
