It is good that the truth is finally coming out about the death at the Florida Boot camp a few months ago.  But, we
cannot forget the cover up that was attempted by Florida officials.  It should really awaken those who were unaware
of how law enforcement uses manufactured "evidence" to protect their own.  Those who thought this never could
happen, now know better.  Those who believe it rarely happens, may be in for a rude awakening.

I hope that this case is the start of a thorough investigation into the Florida Criminal Justice and Juvenile Justice
system.  The loyalty driven, good old boy network caused this criminal cover up and undoubtedly there are more
examples of this type of official deception.  If there was ever an opportunity to clean up the system this is it.

I  worked in the Florida Juvenile Justice system for 7 years and can say that most people are good, honest folks.
That is undoubtedly the same in the adult justice system.  But most is not all - and anyone who has had any
interaction with the criminal justice system know that some cops and other officials put loyalty to each other above
everything else - even the truth.   Police naturally back each other up.  Even if it means lying.  Not coincidentally, we
see the same behavior in our present political system.
In Red America the idea that loyalty trumps everything
has become standard operating procedure by those in power. They believe that as a "protector of
society", they have the right  to mislead the public to preserve their grip on power.
 Americans are
beginning to see how this type of arrogance has corrupted our national politics - this case can help people realize
just how pervasive this attitude is in so many other critical centers of power.

It is not OK to lie about killing a 14 year old just like it's not OK to lie about war.  Yes I support the troops, the cops on
the beat and those hard working, dedicated employees of the juvenile justice system.  But when the people in power
put their personal needs over the good of the public, we have to call them on it and demand consequences for their
behavior. When this becomes common in an organization (or a nation) - an overhaul is needed.  Let's find out
everyone who was responsible for this cover up and make sure they are identified and punished.  Then, lets
investigate
other questionable behavior to be sure all the bad apples are removed or, if necessary, throw out the
whole barrel and start over.
