Republicans were exploiting people's patriotism
for political advantage in the midterm elections.

06.26.2006 ... A very rainy weekend here in New York.  I have been working almost everyday, except Saturday
when I spent 5 soggy hours at Yankee Stadium. In the news..after giving themselves a raise, blocking an
increase in the minimum wage, seeing the deaths of US troops reach 2,500 our GOP friends feel they need to
do SOMETHING. So here we go again with an effort to change the US Constitution with a pointless Flag
Burning amendment.  Believe me this is just a political game designed to throw red meat to their base who
seem to have an unhealthy affection for symbolism but real disdain for real help for their fellow Americans If
Republican politicians really wanted to go against the constitution, they probably would just do it and not
publicize it and then complain when they are found out.  Instead, much like the abortion issue. They only really
want to make a lot of noise, label their opponents as evil and drive true believers to the polls.  It seems to have
worked for years, so why wouldn't they try it again.

RECORD JUNE
There turned out to be another high in the number of
visitors to this web site for the month of June.  I went over
the top at the end of the month when I posted and
promoted the video (below) of President Bush doing
"Sunday Bloody Sunday".  Everyone, it seems, who
knows that song really enjoys the clip. People have
passed on the link via e mail and I know that at least 3
other web sites are linking back to my site, adding to the
visitor count.

I haven't had as much time to put into the blog recently
because I'm travelling more often to work.  I head to
Florida next week for a wedding and to visit family. That
will be a great trip!

Ya know, I'm really looking forward to watching a DVD on
my laptop while on the plane. I am almost expecting it to
be anticlimactic - but it is something that I have always
wanted to do.  I am thinking that rather than a movie, I will
just buy a box set of some hour or half hour TV series I
like. Something light and mindless, rather than the
syrupy dramas I usually get stuck with in flight.  At just
over 2 hours, I am not even sure there will be a movie.
