I have been a longtime visitor to the website DRUDGE REPORT. It has breaking news all day and
the latest on political gossip. But in a time when many Americans cannot tell the difference
between fact and fiction, the DRUDGE REPORT has hit another a new low. Here's the story. Last
week I caught a blazing headline on DRUDGE, with the infamous siren flashing, about the Mark
Foley Page scandal. As soon as I saw it, I had a feeling it was fake. I also guessed that it would
be used by right wingers to lie to their political base. I was correct on both accounts
The original story (which I am still kicking myself for not printing since it was pulled so fast)
indicated that the D.C. Page scandal was all made up and being spread by Democratic operatives.
Within minutes the story on DRUDGE REPORT was re-written to say that maybe 1 e mailer was
faking and then, as the day went on and the story went from headline to minor story, it was further
amended to say that one of the pages who exchanged heated e mails with Foley is now
embarrassed and just wanted to say "I'm not gay" and that he was only joking with the
Congressman. So the original breaking story - that Democrats made the entire Foley story up -
was completely false.
DRUDGE, as he is frequently forced to do, changed his story really fast that day but his real work
was done. Influential right wingers in this country, jumped on the original, untrue story and decided
to spread the lie anyway. No correction, no adjustments, just the convenient lie.
Of course, the only reason they do this is because that their followers trust them so much they will
not fact check. They have their flock on a string and they jerk it with impunity. I predict that they
will be successful in pulling the wool over their sheep once again. How very sad.

DRUDGE DISTORTS, REDS OBLIGE
|
So how did our friends on the Red side of the aisle get so misinformed? It's no accident. The other day I gave an example of how Matt Drudge briefly publishes false stories just to have the rest of the right wing media spread it to their flock. Let's not forget FOX news. Here are just two examples from the past week showing how that propaganda source does what they do. Notice that scandal ridden Mark Foley is labeled a Democrat. He is, of course, a Republican. FOX certainly works to keep their people stupid.

In the other graphic - Lincoln Chafee, a Republican, is shown as a Democrat. Why? Rhode Island, as a rule, HATES
Republicans. So, with Chafee, far behind in the polls (the numbers in the graphic are correct) why not label him a Democrat
to give him a boost? The "dumbing down" of America is no accident. And it is being reinforced by the right wing in this
country every day and in very subtle ways.

HOW THE HEADS OF REDS ARE BEING FED

A new study contends nearly 655,000 Iraqis have died
because of the war, suggesting a far higher death toll than
other estimates.
In the new study, researchers attempt to calculate how
many more Iraqis have died since March 2003 than one
would expect without the war. Their conclusion, based on
interviews of households and not a body count, is that
about 600,000 died from violence, mostly gunfire.
