DIANE REAMS RUSH!
When I was flying home from Chicago I listened to
the Diane Rehm Show podcast from her show last
Friday.  I  get the Friday podcast every week
because she hosts a round table of political
commentators to discuss the week's issues and
that's my thing.

Diane Rehm has been in the business a long time.
A voice problem has lead to many medical
treatments and a slow deliberate tone which matches
her typically low key approach to talk radio.  But
something about Rush Limbaugh's mocking of
Michael J. Fox was too much for her to take.

I put together the photo and video clip to go along
with her MUST HEAR dressing down of the right wing
hater.
"You ought to get down on
your knees and beg
[Michael J. Fox's]  forgiveness"
I am back from Chicago.  It was a great trip.  The last night I went to an Irish pub and
watched the World Series with a bunch of local Irish drinkers. It's always nice to get
even a little feel of connecting with a city on such a short and "conference room
orientated" visit.

Only a couple incidents at the airport.  On the way in I used the video kiosk to check
in and then got in the main line to check my bag.   As I waited for the twisting cue to
work it's was around to me I thought I heard someone calling my name in the
distance. It happened a few times, every 3 minutes or so like a well timed alarm.  I
thought I was going nuts. Finally I figured out that my name had come through from
the kiosk and I was supposed to stay in that area to drop off the bag.  The guy at the
counter over there called my name, when I didn't respond he went down the list only
to try me again after he finished.

On the way back home I was going through the line at O'Hare - shoes off, jacket off,
everything out of the pockets, computer out of the bag, cell phone open but I forgot
the latest one.  " Do you have a bottle of water in your bag, sir" the pimply face TSA
agent asked in a stern voice after my bag was stoped at the  X Ray machine.  "It's not
allowed?" I asked meekly, remembering the ban as the words left my lips.  "Well,
water is considered a liquid", he snorted sarcastically as he flipped the bottle into
the trash. I thought of a few really snappy responses to that but decided to keep
quiet as to not risk delaying things.

I might as well have.  Due to extremely heavy winds in New York we were delayed
from take off by a couple hours.  When we finally boarded, the flight crew was in
such a hurry we started taxiing before everyone was seated.  Our decent into New
York was the slowest and unsteadiest I can remember.  Once we landed we had to
sit on the plane another 45 minutes because there was a line of planes at the gate
ahead of us.  The old couple behind me were drunk and loud and started getting
belligerent at the stewardess who was screaming dinner details into her cell phone.
Finally I got off the plan and called for my reserved car.  No answer for 40 minutes -
only a recording telling me how fast their airport service was.  After 20 I jumped in a
yellow cab and made it home at last.
